Big OOPS. I haven’t updated this entry for quite a while, not that history has changed. Here’s what I wrote a long time ago. Let’s skip to 2008:
I’m Cecil Coupe, 57 years old, widowed, retired, and I live in Boise Idaho, USA. I’ve been blogging for 8 years and have somewhere near 36 years of computer experience. Lot of years of hardware and assembly language fun, more instruction sets and computer languages than you care to know about. I spent some very profitable (to my pocketbook) time in IT technical management in a Fortune 500 size company.
I’ve used Apple’s computers since the Apple II. Wire-wrapped my own boards before then. I go way back. Anybody remember the DEC Rainbow? CPM/86?. I bought an early Mac Plus and went through lots of the Apple hard times and upgrades. Before this blog started, I bought a machine to run Linux (1999 or maybe 1998). Let’s just say I’ve been an early adopter and have the arrows in my back to prove it. I’m currently 100% Linux.
That’s history and I personally don’t spend much time in the way back machine. Currently have a, no profit yet business converting Manila blogs (and others) from one place to another. The IRS would call it a hobby. I have a couple of websites on the mvmanila.com domain. Might have more in the future, might have less.
My passion is avoiding getting locked into one vendor, or one vision of the past, or one vision of the future. I’m not a god fearing man.
DEC Rainbow, (follow-on 300 Pro) pdp 8, 11 and (10). Then VAX (then compaq. then hp) Maynard, Ma. Yup.
